The organization came into existence in the year 1944 and was founded by Henry Giessenbier, Jr. The organization, during its inception was deemed as Service/NGO firm. JCI is basically a membership-based non-profit organization. Currently, the organization has over 200,000 members of age 18-40 years. The members are spread over 100 countries and belongs from 5000 different countries. Junior Chamber International (JCI) is currently headquartered at St. Louis, Missouri, USA and the headquarter employs around 20 individuals. These individuals are responsible for overseeing the activities of JCI, administering the overall organizational finances and provide members with optimum tools and resources so as to help them improve projects on national and local level.
